Competence Based Selection

An in-house course on Behavioural (Competence Based) Selection Interviewing for your managers can be far more cost-effective than sending them on external courses (making savings even with as few as three managers). The training can be tailored to your specific needs and delivered at a date and time to suit you.

Selecting the right staff can be expensive, up to a quarter of the annual salary if you choose the wrong person! This half-day workshop looks at how to use best practice when selecting candidates for interview and how to effectively interview those you have chosen.

Aim: To explore how to maximise your chance of selecting the ‘right' person to fill your organisation's vacancies.

Objectives:

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

• Explain the key elements of an effective selection process

• Describe the role and importance of an accurate person specification and job description

• Use effective behavioural questioning techniques

• Understand the importance of active listening

• Describe the structure of an effective behavioural (competence based) selection interview

• Compile an action plan to implement their individual learning points from the workshop

Learning Methods:

A highly participative half-day of short tutor inputs, group sessions and individual work, which provides participants with an opportunity to explore and practice behavioural (competence based) selection interviews techniques.
